He’s wearing a white coat, so it must be science: Intel Labs’ Embree in action. Chaos Group has implemented the open-source raytracing library in VRayEmbree, speeding up V-Ray renders on Intel CPUs by up to 30%.

Chaos Group has released VRayEmbree, a new tool for speeding up V-Ray renders on Intel x64 CPUs.

The VRayEmbree helper is an implementation of Embree, Intel’s collection of raytracing kernels. It needs a 3ds Max 2010 or above and V-Ray 2.3 – according to the Readme file, it’s unlikely to work with other 2.x releases.

Chaos Group claims that the rendering speed boost can be up to 30%. We don’t have any more information than that, but since VRayEmbree free, why not try it for yourself?
