Discover how to prepare ZBrush models for 3D printing

The Gnomon Workshop has released Preparing ZBrush Models for 3D Printing, a detailed guide to using Pixologic’s digital sculpting software to create 3D printed collectibles.

The workshop, recorded by freelance digital sculptor Maarten Verhoeven, comprises over three hours of video training, and is recommended for intermediate and advanced artists with some experience of ZBrush.

Turn your digital sculpts into hollowed, keyed, watertight meshes for 3D printing
In the workshop, Verhoeven reveals how to translate CG models into physical objects efficiently, covering the entire process of preparing a ZBrush sculpt for 3D printing, particularly for resin printers.

Technical processes covered include keying, scaling and hollowing a model, setting up drain holes, and how to set everything up on a print bed.

As well as ZBrush, Verhoeven explores how to use Meshmixer, Autodesk’s free mesh editing tool, and PreForm, Formlabs’ free software for its 3D printers.

Verhoeven’s key brushes are available as a downloadable resource with the workshop.
